Determination of Catechins in Matcha Green Tea by Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography

This is an interesting study performed on the catechins found in matcha. The research demonstrates that matcha contains a much higher concentration of powerful antioxidants than steeped green tea. In fact, matcha contains over 137 times the amount of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) found in Chinese green tea. Antioxidants like EGCG help to neutralize the harmful effects of free radicals in the body. Free radicals damage healthy cells and accelerate the onset of disease and premature aging.

Just another reason to enjoy a cup of matcha every day!
